Long before a booking is confirmed, however, something else happens first.

Room-Res Radar is a public, interactive destination intelligence platform that visualises where Room-Res travel agents are actively searching for hotels around the world. Rather than relying on consumer surveys, historical reports or third-party estimates, Radar is built entirely from real search behaviour taking place across the Room-Res platform.
The result is a live picture of destination demand as it develops.
At the centre of Radar is the Destination Demand Index (DDI) - a continuously refreshed measure of each destination's share of hotel searches performed by the Room-Res travel agent network.
Instead of asking where travellers have been, the DDI helps answer a far more interesting question:
Where are they starting to look?
Because travel planning often begins weeks or months before a booking is made, search activity frequently provides an earlier signal of changing travel patterns than booking reports alone. While not every search becomes a booking, movements in search share can highlight destinations gaining momentum, seasonal shifts and emerging traveller interest well before traditional reporting captures them.
Room-Res Radar has been designed to make these insights simple to explore.
Users can switch between Australian and United States travel agent activity, compare demand across rolling 7-day, 30-day and 90-day periods, and filter results to the Top 10, Top 25 or Top 50 searched destinations.
Radar also identifies destinations gaining or losing search share compared with the previous period, helping reveal which locations are building momentum and which may be cooling. Every destination on the interactive map displays its current Destination Demand Index together with its movement over time.
